Growing Up
I grew up in a university town. My parents had a driving school and did their best to succeed in life without degrees and to support their children financially.
I was a lovely kid who liked to walk around with a book in his mouth.
Growing Up in Louvain, Belgium
I was a genius at things in elementary school. When I did an IQ test by a psychologist in school, she said that I scored as an 8-year-old, like a 14-year-old in the verbal part. But life was hard as my parents were not great at loving, but my grandma saved the day. In the final year of elementary school, my teacher ran into the gym hall as I scored 100% on the final Math exam and kissed me on the cheek. Both are unusual in Belgium.
My first love was Krishna, a Bernese Mountain dog. I became a vegetarian at around 12 years old, which is unique for guys. The gay theme emerged around 13, and it was not loved. High School was odd, but I could give a punch with words and always had friends.
I started university at age 16, and I would make university friends that I still have today. The journey continued with loneliness inside because I couldn't be fully myself and be appreciated.
